MIL-DTL-38999 (M38999) Series I, II, III, IV Circular Miniature Connectors
MIL-DTL-38999 hermetic cylindrical connectors (Series I, II, III, IV) are designed for use in cable-to-panel I/O
applications that are exposed to extremely harsh physical/environmental conditions and/or pressurized
environments. Although the connectors are prevalent in military applications (particularly those involving
aerospace), their resilience and durability make them ideal candidates for other industries, including the medical
and petrochemical (oil and gas) sectors.
A.E. Petsche offers MIL-DTL-38999 connectors in four series types (I, II, III, IV). Each type possesses different
characteristics that make it more or less suitable for specific applications. Some of these characteristics include
different mating designs, resistance to shock and vibration, resistance to electrolytic erosion, and protection
against damage to exposed contact pins. The entire family of M38999 hermetic connectors offers superior
reliability in even the most demanding of environments, where pressure, moisture, corrosion, and extreme
temperatures are a concern. General information on each of the four M38999 series types is outlined below.
|I||Bayonet||Yes||9 – 25||40 db minimum at 10 GHz||No||Yes|
|II||Bayonet||No||8 – 24||40 db minimum at 10 GHz||No||Yes|
|III||Triple lead thread
|Yes||9 – 25||65 db minimum at 10 GHz||Yes||Yes|
|IV||Breechlock||Yes||9 – 33||65 db minimum at 10 GHz||Yes||Yes|
